I realise this is off the topic - if not applicable to aviators and
builders.
Somehow, I have inherited an asinine program from ICRA. This outfit is based
in UK - so you British-based readers are personally responsible.........
It is my bounden duty to research and digest the causes of aircraft
accidents. These provide the answer (usually) for one of two alternatives:
(a) "there, but for the Grace of God, go I" - that is, I might have done the
same - oh-oh
(b) "that's not me" - the man was a fool, I wouldn't have done that (right
or wrong)
One of my sources (and an excellent one at that) is the UK Aircraft
Accident Investigation Board - a long-standing and valuable preventive
source.
When I seek out the bulletins,
aaib.dft.gov.uk/publications/bulletins/May_2007.cfm, for instance, I am then
presented with a choice of particular events, or a compendium of preliminary
remarks prior to formal investigation, when I opt for a specific report,
this stupid ICRA program cuts me out - perhaps it's bad for my id.
Id idn't.
Ferg

Fergus - I've never heard of ICRA and don't know what software they supply.

I suggest you try browsing websites with a web browser. There are
many available, including my favourite Safari, now (I understand)
also available for those limited to applications that run under some
flavour of Windows. I've had no problems using any part of the AAIB
website with Safari. But I've not heard of anyone having problems
with Internet Explorer either. If you are using Windows it should be
available somewhere on the machine.

regards

Rowland

DO NOT ARCHIVE

Ferg:

If you are using IE check your settings at Tools, Internet Options, click on
the Content tab, and then click on Enable or Disable (whichever is shown).
If your filter is on (Disable will be shown)then you can simply turn it off.
The bad news is that if you did not set up the filter yourself, or know who
did, you may be out of luck because you will need the password to make
changes.

Note that if your filter is on, one of the problems may be that UKAAIB site
may not have a "rating" and unrated sites will be blocked. To allow unrated
sites (again in IE) continue as described in the first sentence above by
clicking on Settings, then in the Content Advisor that opens next choose the
General tab and put a check next to "Users can see websites that have no
rating." Alternatively you can click on the Approved Sites tab and add the
URLs, one by one, that you will allow past the filter whether they have a
rating or not. All of this assumes that you know the password.

More than you probably want to know about Microsoft's Content Advisor is at
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/ie/reskit/6/part2/c05ie6rk.mspx
?mfr=true

You can get rid of the password by throwing money at the problem. For
example http://f.lostpassword.com/ie.htm with which I have no experience so
this is not a recommendation for a specific program.

..and don't blame the Brits because this nonsense probably was started by
those divorced or gay "family values" politicians in Washington, DC. Say,
Ferg, do you think Ottawa would consider making California a Province?

It is a parental Internet content filter. Try uninstalling it by clicking the
following:

Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs

Uninstall the ICRAPlus Internet Filter

(The actual program should be located in the C:\Program Files\ICRAplus\ICRAplus\
folder)
