Steve,
Can you elaborate? What is it about the landings that takes getting used
to? What did you fly before? Just curious.

I have got over 600 hours in RV's with 500 plus hours in taildraggers. My plane is a Extra 260 with the mid wing design. so when I'm on final I lose site of the runway at any speed under 80kts due to the angle of attack so what I have learned is to slip my landing from downwind right to the numbers and that seems to work well. But its still work in progress.

Steve,
I had a mid wing 300 for a while. The best technique I found was to fly
a curving approach if at all possible, and convert that to a large slip
as I lined up on final, with plenty of power. I held the slip to the
absolute last minute (probably 20' or below), straightened up, cut the
power and landed. On take off I would leave the ground at 80kt in the 3
point attitude, so I approached at 80kt. Any more and I would float down
the runway completely blind. I want to know that the airplane would land
as soon as I shut the throttle. Kicking off the slip was enough to give
a little 'flare' to stop the rate of descent. Speed control +2kt -0 on
final was key to a good landing, at light weights I could get it down to
75kt without arriving too much tailwheel first. Using this technique I
did land on a 900ft runway one day with plenty to spare (but there was a
25kt wind blowing) - the alternative was 25kt across 1800' or land 25
miles away! Once on the ground I would pick the tail up so I could see
where I was going and could brake quite heavily controlling the attitude
with the elevator down to about 20 kt.
Hope this helps, Peter

Peter that is beautiful, I also stand the tail during rollout. Thanks for the info I'm also landing at my airpark which is narrow for a blind landing, but its progressing nicely.

Monty you could mount a video camera under the wing and a tv screen in the panel and still not affect useful load.
Monty, I'm going to put a full Slick ignition system on my extra 260 which has a 315hp IO-540 that you built, What model slick mag would you use because it has 23* degree bendix on it now and would you install duel impulse mags.
