Bonjour Brian,
You are right.
From France to Spain you need a flight plan but it is not necessary to take off and land from an airfield with custom service.

Does anyone know if we can fly from a non-customs airfield in one Schengen country to another without problems? I am planning to fly from Southern France to Spain this summer and cannot obtain this information from either AIP.

If memory serves me right, you do need written permission from the Spanish to fly a permit aircraft in Spain though. Don't know if charge for granting it or for how long it lasts. Does anyone know if Belgium still charges - last time I heard, they did and it was quite a bit (£50 ish).

Peter, Spain don't charge but do take ages to reply. Italy and Czech
Republic, both of whom used to require special permission relaxed this in
2007, (I have written confirmation from both) so it is possible that
Belgium, Spain and Greece are also moving into line as part of some EASA
process. Regards, David Joyce, G-XSDJ

Peter,
Indeed, in Belgium they ask 83 Euro for a permit foreign aircraft to operate in the country. It lasts for one year and for maximum 30 flights who have to be reported in the month of january. Seems that there is no control. As a belgian citizen with a french registered Europa I should have to pay it each year to operate over my own country. This year I forgot it perhaps because I feel like a european citizen and why shouldn't we have the same rights as cardrivers?
Regards,
Karel Vranken.
