Hi all, Well I went and got the Kitfox 4 today that I bought on ebay on Sunday. Haven't slept very well the last few nights because I didn't know for sure what I had bought. I woke up this morning at 5:30 even though I didn't have to leave till 8:30. Well I'll sleep good tonight. Looks like every thing is just fine with the plane so far.
I have to get the wings tomorrow. One thing I would like to mention, is that if anyone is thinking of changeing out their 582 to a fourstroke, or their 80 HP Rotax to a 100 HP Rotax, give me a shout. I will eventually be needing an engine, motor mount and cowl for the plane, but I'm not in any big rush either. I do have a 582 muffler and radiator allready for a Kitfox, but would rather go in the direction of a 4 stroke. Actually, I half wish I hadn't sold my 582, mount and cowl for the Avid when I put the Jabiru on it, I might have put it back on the Avid and used the Jabiru in the Fox. I have the Avid to fly while I build this plane so when I can't do one, I can do the other.  Thanks for listening, Jim Chuk Avids, and Kitfox 4 Mn

I am jealous! I am running out of projects and have almost done as much doctoring as I can on my Fox 4. Hummm going to need a new project before too long. I am selling a British car to make room in my hanger. I am thinking, mind you, about a Highlander or 701. No hisses or boos please as they are both excellent airplanes.

Dick,

Check out the Highlander 'VG'
Same low speed capability and no huge L.E. device. Apparently it goes
10 kts faster.

I know of a Kitfox 3 project about 100 miles south of me (in Aitkin Mn) He has it advertised on Barnstormers. No engine or wing tanks, 582 moter mount. He was asking $6500 for it. Well I have to take off to get the wings, Thanks, Jim Chuk Avids  Kitfox 4 Mn

What are you referring to when you say no huge L. E. device? If you mean the plastic leading edge cuff that glues on, what is wrong with it? I'm full of questions right now. Thanks, Jim

Hi Dick-

There are two 701's being built locally....one is nearly finished,
with Jabiru 2200 power, the other is maybe 50% done and the guy is
thinking 3-cyl Geo power. If you want contact info for either, let me
know private email. The Geo guy just finished an 801 with Superior
Air engine...can't recall Lyc or Con.

I bought a KF 4 bundle of bits on ebay last fall. I lost a lot of sleep too, wondering if I was a fool for purchasing sight unseen....huge relief to see a perfect, unblemished kit at pick up. I'll get back on it now that the garage is warm again. Engine and panel are done. Good luck with your parts search. Pic is from the ebay ad.

Thanks for the reply, Gary, I was only 70 miles from the plane, but still had to buy it sight unseen. Looks like it will work out just fine though. Got everything home today and even got to sit in it and make engine sounding noises while I moved the stick around. Got the wife to snap a few pictures even. Looked at them tonight and thought, there is a guy with his priorities in order, unfinished tin covered garage, but he has a plane in it!!! I have a wonderfully understanding wife! Well stay busy on the plane, and soon you will be flying it. Jim Chuk Avids Kitfox 4 Mn

Congrats. Jim!

Did the previous owner assemble the wings, or were they a quick build?
