I have a set of 1150-3 amphibious floats on order
to install on my CH-701 which will be ready at the end of the
month..I want to use my front nose wheel to fold back in
under the front as in a typical earlier installation for the
CH-701..I need a drawing of the foldback mechanism for the
nose wheel extension..also the measurements for the front 4130
tubing frame which mounts the front of the frame to the aircraft..I requested the
info from Mark at CanZac but have not received a reply to date..They are
building the floats.. I have the 4130 tubing in stock to make the frame and extension.
any help would be appreciated...

My quick build kit from the CZAW factory came with 1150-3 amphibious
floats installed, which I however immediately removed from the fuse
and stored because the 701 I am building must be test flown on wheels
first. A photo manual and instruction book came with the floats but
no actual drawings. However, if it is enough for you I can take pics
of them and you can then indicate what dimensions and distances you
want to have measured - if you really want to scratchbuild.
Basically you need a shorter landing gear spring, the welded triangle
front frame and the nosewheel folding mechanism together with an
extended gear tube. Additionally it might be advantageous to offload
the firewall somewhat using a steel profile from the float attachment
brackets to the engine mount upper fuselage fastening points.
This reinforcement is however easy also to retrofit later.
The wheel folding hinge mechanism by CZAW is not particularly well
designed, a friend's 701 lost the nose wheel in swells as the slight
sideload broke the edge welding and the lower part was lost at sea.
Fortunately he noticed that the front tyre was missing before
attemting a runway landing...
Best regards
Max
