Does anyone have a converter laying about they would like to sell - I bought a radio and it's 24 volt, and my plane is 12v.
Clearly I need to convert upwards.
Thank you

Repeat your post on the aeroelectric list above. There are many there more expert than I but what you want to do is not simple. You are probably better off putting the radio on e bay and buying a 14 V radio.

Are you sure the radio can't be converted to 12 volt? Model and manufacturer?

For older stuff it was pretty common to regulate down to 12 volts and the only real difference was the way pilot lights were wired.

Thats why I suggested tyhe aeroelectric list. Short answer is I don't know. I had the impression from your post you wanted to step the aircraft voltage up to 28V which seemed to me to ba adaunting task.

It's a Narco MK-12D

I didn't know that was possible, short of a converter of some sort ...

That's an idea of course, but I can buy the converter new for $185.00 and I doubt I will get what the radio is worth, it's a MK-12D, on ebay ...

the reason I posted is because these converters are around, it's easy to find the 28's to 12's - more difficult to find the 12's to 28's

thanks for the idea though ...

You can contact Narco and see what they would charge to convert it
internally. They made both 14 and 28V versions. Prior to the UPSAT SL30,
it was the best navcom on the market.
PHONE: 800-234-7551, 215-643-2905
