flat stock aluminum. this is the second time i have heard this mentioned my father in law was saying that he can get me this at very reasonable rate from work 100$ for a 3 by 100ft roll would this be able to be buaght in the proper specs i need??

oh by the way i was not planning on skining it in 040 i am simply deciding to make some parts that call for 0.25 to be 0.40. i still fail to see the harm in oversizing if it doesn't affect weight to drastically

i see the the weight load for this plane and think most load i will ever put in it is me and after lots of test flights mabee someone else who has the balls but i weigh 170 suppose someone else weight 200 that would be a absoulute max load. Far less than the actuall limits of the plane

one more qu
i have read on govment of canada website that homebuilts are not needed to be inspected is this true ??
as note 2 quote from http://www.tc.gc.ca/CivilAviation/general/recavi/Ultralight/ULTransitionStrategy/basic.htm

2.3 Basic Ultra-light Aeroplane Manufacturer/Owner Responsibility

Basic Ultra-light Aeroplanes may be built from an original design, purchased as a kit from an ultra-light aeroplane kit manufacturer or be a combination of these two possibilities. Regardless of how or where the aircraft is constructed or assembled, the responsibility to meet the design specifications and maintain the aircraft for continued safe flight rests solely with the owner of the aircraft. If the aircraft that is registered as an ultra-light aeroplane is modified so as to no longer be an ultra-light aeroplane the certificate of registration is cancelled.

Although the manufacturer of a Basic Ultra-light Aeroplane is not required to meet any criteria with respect to standards of materials, workmanship or the continuing “fit for flight” status of their product, it is strongly recommended that, in the interest of safety, Basic Ultra-light Aeroplane manufacturers use “aviation accepted” design criteria, materials and practices.

also i read this

Prospective purchasers of Basic Ultra-light Aeroplane kits should be aware that kit manufacturers and part suppliers are bound by no legal requirements under the Aeronautics Act. It is strongly recommended that owners and prospective owners of Basic Ultra-light Aeroplanes avail themselves of the information and services provided by the recreational aviation industry, schools and the ultra-light aviation community.

its statement like this that almost make you just want to come up with a rudder from another simpler plan of equal size better strenght. anyone have a total weight for the rudder. i want a idea of what i am lookin at

i guess my will be called a ch(theonlyone)

<?xml:namespace prefix="v" /><?xml:namespace prefix="o" /><![endif]--> On the other hand, he has an advantage most of us don't have, that of free experience. Having spent most of my time building two airplanes, one for the trash and one for the ramp ( I suspect there are a lot of us out there), I would encourage him to take all the scrap aluminum sheet he can find, and build as many parts as he can, build as much of the airframe as he can, and then return them to the scrap yard after comparing his handiwork with what the plans specify. He can then learn how it's done, appreciate the precision required, develop a feel for the work AT NO COST, and when he's ready, get on with the real thing. Call it a self-apprenticeship. Even better, if there's an EAA chapter nearby, he can get a critique before diving in.

also paid $58 a sheet of .016 last June, so shop around....Bob S.

Steven, When you said $180 I don't think everyone noticed you said it was an
8x12 sheet as we are used to getting 4x12 size so that was $90 for a 4x12
also I don't know if you said that was Canadian dollars in which case it is
a very good price even for .025" material (you didn't specify thickness.
Also as others said watch for someone selling their plans on ebay or
barnstormers since some people are wanting to go to the new 750 design.
Hang in there, you can do this, and with care and patience you can do it
cheap too!
