I'm trying to get a new computer online and am having trouble
configuring Thunderbird. The logon fails. This one works, and I need
to know where to look for the logon ID and password.
ATT wants me to pay them to get help ...... but doesn't say how much!!!
If you can help, email me direct so as not to disturb the Grumman purists!!!

The nice thing about Gary's list is yo can post whatever the heckl you want and not "disturb" anyone's rules.
I just set up my daughters att DSL modem and rwireless router and might be able to help tell me more
either here or at 923te(at)att.net (923te(at)att.net)

Though less stringent than most this is not completely true, see Matronics Offical TeamGrumman-List user guide lines. http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?t=2273
One suggestion they make that would help to track threads is "DO keep the "Subject:" line of your response the same as that of the original post. This makes it easy to find threads in the archive."

Linn,
There is no "off-topic" on this list. If you wanted to wish someone Happy Valentines here, you could. This list isn't monitored by the SS or Dmitry Medvedev. On-the-other-hand, your own government is watching. They don't care if you ask questions not related to Grummans, and neither do we.

Tools->Account Settings then look for "Server Settings" and "Outgoing Server
(SMTP)" in the list of stuff at left (may have to expand one or more of the
list elements clicking the '+' sign) and configure these. Your ISP should
have a document on what server names, ports, and protocol settings should be
used.

Thanks everyone for their help. I recently managed to get the problem
solved on my own ..... the ATT help (I have DSL) wasn't, and my 'survey'
reflected that. The ATT guy wasn't any help at all, and he passed me on
to a 'paid' customer support line .... which I declined. Perseverance
won out.
Again, thanks for all the help!
