Mickey,



Hi there - my empty Cofg is 77" aft, with a tail weight of 50lbs and an

empty of 1112lbs.



My battery is in the baggage bay and works very well, however I am now

considering a move to the rear position ( which should add 10 lbs to the

tail ) and I will carry ballast when it is gusty or very windy.



I hope you are progressing well with your 8.

My RV-8 is a little light in the tail, so I added a 40 pound bag of floor 

sweep to the rear baggage compartment plus my tool bag, some survival stuff 

and anything else I want to lug along.  Oh yes, the battery is in the rear 

position also.  It helped on the landings.  To date, I haven't had the 

problem with the wind, but maybe the conditions weren't right.  Tom Schad
