Are people still using the Odyssey battery PC625 in their Lightnings? Wondering if there is a better battery out there. Ours doesn't hold a charge, but is a couple years old. Charles

Their EFIS is a built by MGL
and in that form is called the
Enigma. It has been around for about 4 years and you
are right, it is an awesome
package for the money. I have the MGL Voyager (next
step up), Â in my Lightning
which is in the Arion booth, so if anyone wants’ to
see what it looks like in
the Lightning panel, feel free to stop by.

Â
All, I'm not trying to get
you interested in a new aircraft, but there's a company
that comes from the same background as myself called MySky
One. What I'd really like to point out is that
they trust the Jabiru 3300 for their aircraft and they have
a couple of instruments that look pretty good. Take a
look at the MSFAS and MSFIC: http://www.mysky.aero/flight-information-center--lsa-mysky-aircraft-msone-FIC1.html  Now I can't say
that I have experience with using this system, but it might
be worth a look for some of those who have not decided what
to put into your panel yet. Â They also have developed a
carb and mixture control for the Jabiru. Â I'm not
sure if that was the one that was talked about on here
previously or not, but they have over 70 hours on their
plane so it has some time on it and also might be worth your
while to check out! Â Thanks, Brian

I have an Odyssey PC 625 in my airplane (the engine is a Rotax 912).
I think they produce very high quality batteries.
I installed the battery new in 2005 and it has performed flawlessly
ever since. It started my engine without any hesitation after sitting
6 months in an unheated hangar.
This kind of battery (sealed lead-acid, AGM) is known for its ability
to keep a charge for a long time. I would measure the current
directly at the battery (remove the positive lead and insert an
ammeter) to determine what load is on the battery when all equipment
is supposed to be off.
It may be that there is some external reason for the battery's discharge.

One of the aviation magazines has a circuitboard for a de-sulfinator. It is about 20 bucks and can be assembled in an evening. I have been using one on an Odessy batery that would not hold a charge and it is working.
They are not a deep cycle battery and can sulfide up with a couple deep cycles.
That is about your only alternitieve to a new batt.
