Dave, I ran the 503 DCDI tied down when I did the break-in procedure. I
can`t remember what the temps were at that time. I do remember I was very
careful to NOT exceed the Max. temps listed in the Rotax manual. To be
honest, I did not enjoy running the 503 tied down at wide open throttle.
The FS II kind of shakes around, wanting to be free of it`s bonds. If you
do run it tied down, check and recheck and then check again the restraints
you are using so nothing lets loose. If yours runs fine and the plugs look
good, I would not run it tied down. Just fly it. Hope this helps. Lanny N598LF

Running at tie down is no fun. I had to do it to set my timing and later tuning the carb. -all done with a step ladder in front of the wing.
Leave the hat.
Also bungee the rudder pedals as the tail wants to beat itself to death.
