The "Bing Carburetors Aircraft Tuning and Parts Manual" (2007) states that the diaphragm in carb should be replaced every two years regardless of hours. Has anybody done this?

Not me.
I had my Bing for 3-1/2 years, and in discussing this matter with the
folks at Bing, they said there is no test for a bad diaphragm, just
hold it up to the light and if you can see no pinholes or cracks,
continue to use it.
And when you stop to think about it, what does two years really mean?
Two years of aging is one thing, two years at 200 hours per year for
one flier is not like two years of 50 hours per year for another.
That's why I asked the Bing folks if there was any test that could be
done, rather than just arbitrarily change it.

No increase that I can really attribute to the Electroair ignition,
but I installed the ignition during an engine rebuild, so many things
were different after I reinstalled the engine. The main reason for
the ignition change was to get away from the (in my case) sloppy
rotors, and otherwise antiquated distributor-based ignition system.
(What modern engine uses distributors these days?) I also wanted to
have a system that was capable of advancing the ignition under
certain conditions, and retarding the ignition as well.

I am currently using the Rotec TBI-40 fuel metering system (Throttle
Body Injection), because I also wanted to be able to control the fuel
mixture while in flight. Here again, I felt that something a bit more
modern than the float-type carburetor was required (or in my case,
desired).

Some of the changes or decisions that I make are based on boredom...I
just need to be doing something different than just flying the plane
as it is. : )
