I have a Rotax 912 engine in my 601XL. One of the oil hoses will leak where it connects to the oil cooler. It's a relatively new hose. I've retightened the clamp several times, but it will leak again after a few cross country trips. I've even replaced the clamp with a wider, stainless steel clamp with an internal sleeve.
I think it's a case of differential thermal expansion - the rubber hose and the stainless steel clamp don't expand equally - which deforms the hose over time ("cold flow").
I was thinking of trying a Breeze constant torque clamp (http://www.breezeclamps.com/ct.htm) and tightening it to about 40 inch pounds.
Has anyone else run into this sort of problem with hoses and was it solved using a spring clamp?
