Static ports
I have a KitFox drawing showing correct location for the Static port on the KitFox, don't remember just what version it is, but if person wanting info will write, I will dig it out!

If you don't have the static correct your airspeed can be up to 10 mph off, had one customer whose airspeed wouldn't get below 80 mph, finally found just a slight oil can in front of the static port causing a low pressure area over the area of the static port. This was on a Zenith 601 about 10 years ago. plane has over 600 hours on it now, still flying great.

Interested. I have actually drilled out some large machine screws and made vanes and purchased all the plumbing, I just never installed the darn things. My ASI seems pretty accurate at speeds below 60 but at 80 mph it indicates 95 Shocked

What about just venting directly out of instrument to cabin pressure. I can't believe the pressure inside a KF is much different than outside. I know you would get different readings with doors open vs closed, but how much.

Pat -- this i why they read wrong................
you need a static port where the pressure really is static.

Read my post on how to check

I fly primarily with my doors in the garage. I have tested with doors on and off and I can adjust airspeed by throwing the plane out of trim. It is more pronounced with the doors open but even with doors I can fluctuate speed about 10 mph. This is vented to the inside.

James, Thanks for the info. One of the KF guru's says he vents with filters, directly to inside of cabin.
