Hello list members,
I have been very unhappy with my installation of the right side throttle
cable to the Bing carb on my Rotax 912.
The cable on the pax.(right) side is short and the angles from both the
throttle linkage and where the cable attatches to the Bing carb. linkage
is very sharp, which causes a stiff movement of the cable. The idea was
to change this cable for a longer cable which extends right of the carb
and around the front, over the engine and back from the left side of the
carb.
This cable will be long, but without any friction.
Does anyone have a source for the cable needed for this? No such
material in Iceland.
Thank you,
Johann G.

Johann:
Aircraft spruce sells a product called "Bowden cable"
that is simply a metal casing with a solid cable
inside. It is sold by the foot. There are a few
accessories for this cable such as the bowden cable
clamp, and no-slip cable-safe fittings and other end
parts. You can find these products at
aircraftspruce.com in the catalog on page 159.
I hope this is helpful.

Your ought to go the Larry McFarland's site www.macsmachine.com and see how
he took care of the dual carb linkage problem. Some of the pictures where he
used a flex shaft are under the controls section. There are some other
pictures with the engine. His Blog Oct 26 from section 5 has some verbage.
Larry will also answer your e-mailed questions.

Maybe bicycle brake cables ? Seems like they are about the same size.

Web definitions for Blog
Blog is short for weblog. A weblog is a journal (or newsletter) that
is frequently updated and intended for general public consumption. Blogs
generally represent the personality of the author or the Web site.

Hi,
Thank you all very much for the advice on the throttle vable material.
I will try the local bicycle shops and motorcycle dealers. If I do not
find anything there, ill just order it.
The idea from Larry McFarland is great, but it will have to wait until
everything else is finished, the minor details and mendings.
It seems that when you think the building of the project is finished,
there is always something that needs fixing or improving.
Nothing big, but things like dark material on the dash, oil thermostat,
seats need covering and so on.
Best regards,
Johann G.
