Hi gang,
I am proceeding with replacing my (mostly) NSI EA-81 engine with a Jab 3300. For fun and curiosity I went out and bought a big-game scale, removed the engine, mount, radiator etc etc and hung it off the scale from my engine hoist. The oil and coolant remained in the engine. It was (drum roll please....) 270 lbs. Add another 8 lbs for the propeller (Powerfin 68").
To be scientific, the non-NSI bits of my powerplant are a Hirth redrive, an auto ignition coil, and the original car alternator. The aluminum flywheel does not have lightening holes. My engine came out of an '83 station wagon. I just thought it might be useful to have one more data point for the powerplant discussions that periodically crop up on this list.

hmm let me see -- after 2 engines and all the money spent , the 912 would have been a great option ?
