I found that dipping an ear cleaning bud in alodine and then wiping into countersunk holes and wiping off any excess, works much better than the pricey alodine pen.

You just need to ensure that you follow the instructions regarding the type/formulation of alodine used. The alodine in the pen doesn’t require a water rinse after application, whereas others may require a rinse.

I got my Alodine pen from SteinAir. I also use it for grounding/bonding connections to help prevent corrosion.
