Hi folks.
I got my Cleveland wheels for my Pulsar III from Skystar
in 2001. Last year in Oshkosh I picked up a Cleveland Technicians
Service Guide. It said, "If your non-amphibious wheel assembly
was shipped prior to 2007" the bearing grease must be
completely removed and replaced with "Mobil Aviation Grease SHC 100"
..which also means removing and replacing the felt grease seals.
The grease must be "Mobil AVIATION Grease SHC 100"
since they also sell Mobil Grease SHC 100 for autos.
I got the new seals from Aircraft Spruce but can't find the
a caulk tube size Mobile Aviation Grease. I don't care to pay mega bucks
for a tub of the stuff.
Can anyone help?
Many thanks,

If it were me, I would stay with conventional available grease...I assume the wheels came with Mobil 28.
The new synthetic greases are great. I was involved with qualifying some of the SHC 100 and SHC 220 on several rotorcraft 15 years ago......longer life, lower drag, better temperature range, higher load capacity. Everything was better at the extremes of the operating envelope. But for the Pulsar or any modest weight GA aircraft I can't see it making any difference....after 10.000 flight cycles you might start to see something, but since you normally would replace the grease every few years anyway due to moisture and grit ingestion due to the thermal cycles. I would not be concerned with the standard grease that has worked fine for the last 50 years...I would also ignore any suggestions to retrofit to ceramic bearings.
Now if it were my Formula 1 race car or my Citation X or my 787 I would not hesitate to drop the grand on a pail of aviation grade SHC grease.
Lots of FBO's are likely to have several grades of SHC in their service hangers...especially if they service jets or helicopters....you could probably make a deal for half a cup from the gallon pail.
