List,
Need to order some oil filters for my 3300, but can not find reference to filter in USA to replace "RYCO Z386" that came on engine new. I thought the replacement was a Honda or ? auto engine.
Any Help,
Thanks,
Mike

NAPA has the equivalent filter; can't remember the number but it is a
5-digit number. They can look it up for you by the Ryco number.

I have used a STP S4967 to replace the Jabiru supplied RYCO Z386 and it
seems to be a perfect replacement.

Ever since Andy Silvester mentioned it over two years ago, I've been
using Baldwin filters #B33. That's about 500 hours and 20 oil and
filter changes worth of use in a 2200 engine. I suspect that the 3300
could use something similar, if not the exact same.

Anybody running a K & N Oil filter?
I think HP1003 is the correct cross reference based off of a search on the K & N site using the Framp PH4967 as the basis. I'm not interested in exploring new ground here, but I'm willing to pay a few more bucks if there is actually better oil flow, possibly better filtration, pressure, cooling etc.
NAPA Gold 1394, Fram Ph4967, Baldwin B33 all fit according to a post by Pete Krojete 3/24/10.

I've been using the Baldwin B33 on my 2200 for about 700-800 hours
now....about 3 years, changing every 25 hours, right along with the oil.

Micheal,
I checked once and the length of the K&N filter would not clear the
Jabiru supplied air plenum. If you have a different type of air
management for cylinder cooling, it might work and is probably the
highest quality filter available.

The K&N has a nut welded on the top of the filter so you can safety wire it
in place. This was an attractive enough feature to convince us to buy a
dozen several years ago. The down side is that there is barely enough
clearance (because of the nut) to get it on over the oil cooler adapter and
every one we tried leaked at the weld that held the nut onto the filter can.
We gave up on them.

I JB Welded a cloverleaf-shaped flat plate onto the end of one of my
first filters, so I could safety-wire the filter, then gave up on the
idea because subsequent filters showed there was no need for safetying.

I agree, I have never had a spin-on filter come loose, but I use a hose clamp around the filter body and safety wire this to somewhere on the engine. I used this method for many years road-racing motorcycles, and it is an acceptable safetying method in that arena.

I haven't had any problems with mine, but I love the KIS nature of this solution - definitely going to look at adding during my next oil change/scheduled maintenance.
Thanks,

Now that you mention it, Martin, I also have a hose clamp around my
filter....it holds my oil cooler flap control cable housing in place,
so it acts as a safety device for the filter.
