Hi guys,

 

Well, I had a 757 that we flew from SEA to DEN and it was filed with the  

wrong identifier and the FAA controllers wouldn't let us go above FL280 even  

with us telling them we were RVSM equipped, certified and capable.  (FAA  

controllers, what a waste of tax money)  We had to have our dispatch  contact the 

center and work it out to climb higer.

 

Believe it or not I thought they actually have a database of RVSM  aircraft.  

I talked to a corporate guy who was having work done at Stead at  Aviation 

Classics with a Cessna Citation that wasn't RVSM and he went  into RVSM airspace 

and later got a letter from the friendly FAA wanting to  talk about it...   

???

 

Oh, speaking of FAA controllers.... I was flying into Honolulu this weekend  

and the controllers were super lame!  The guy gave us a completely bogus  

heading and a clearance to descend to 3,000 feet where the terrain was  completely 

shrouded and obscured by clouds.  I'm looking at the enhanced  ground 

proximity/terrain altitude on the EFIS and it shows terrain at 4,400  feet!!!  It's 

always nice to have been into an area a lot where you  are able to recognize 

when the controllers have majorly screwed up and you  instantly know a bad 

heading, not to mention a deadly altitude.  

 

Point of the story:  DON'T trust your controller.  They may have  just had a 

Triple Mocha/Java with an extra shot of expresso juice and be all  wired out 

of their friggin' mind!!

they are suppose to just change it if you tell them you filed wrong.....There are guys that shouldn't be controlling just as much as guys that shouldn't be flyin......how do we stay friends?
