Can anyone tell me the angular difference (degrees) between the "root" tube
(tube engine's mounted to) and the bottom of the wing (angle of incidence)
on an early Firestar?... I'm trying to set the 5-6 degree nose down of the
floats and I can't install my wings right now, so I'm hoping to use the
difference between the tube and the floats... I hope this makes sense...

OK David now I see what you are trying to do. Did the same thing on my
Firefly. As I recall you can go to your wing root and measure the relationship
with the two mount points in regard to the reference line used for the
incidence. Measure the distance down from the main mount point to the incidence
line. Then go to your fuselage and measure down from the main mount point. This
will allow your to use a straight edge between the rear mount and the mark
you just put on the frame. I used this method on both the MKIII and Firefly.
If this does not make sense, let me know and I will try to explain.

Sorry Steve, you totally lost me on that one... Thanx for all your help,
apparently twin floats are a rarity on Firestars/Fireflys...

OK David, Try this,
1 Trace a template of your root end of your wing.
2 Make sure you also mark the front and rear mount points.
3 Cut out the template and fasten it to your fuselage.
You now have the cross section of your wing mounted on your frame and you
can set the floats in reference to that wing.
You could also use a wing rib if you had one.
