I spun the valve stem off a tube when landing on rough ground and braking hard. I only run about 4psi if I know I will be landing on rough ground.
I fixed the problem by using screws through the rim and into the tire bead, like the old race cars did. With that low of pressure I still have problems with the tubes moving around in the tire (valve stem getting crooked). I guess that is why Alaska Bush Tires don't use tubes or valve stems in the wheels.
Leaving tomorrow for a week in the Idaho back country.

HI All,
Mounting a tubles tire on a Matco split rim with a O ring is really a quick and simple task. The only (trick) is
to realize how strong and tough the O ring is and how much force is necessary to stretch it over the rim.
First , Bolt the rims togather, Wet the rim and the O ring with soapy water , stretch the O ring over the OUTSIDE
of the rim and onto the flat area. (I use my hands rather than a tool, less chance of damage to the O ring )This takes considerable force-- you may think the O ring will break-- but it won't--,
then insert the rim into the tire in the usual maner, After geting the rim into the tire gently compress the tire.
Then useing your finger roll the O ring off the flat area and onto the ramp, it will slide down the ramp and snap into possition.
After bolting the rim halves togather the whole job takes less than1 min.
