Hi,
I've cut out the fuel tank for the factory Werner fuel gauge,
it comes with a rubber gasket but I'm not happy with it sealing around the
five AN bolts, what can be used as a sealant for the gauge ?, I Know I can use
redux as a last resort,

Steve Hi!
I remember using some stuff from ACS called PTS PROSEAL 890-CLASS B-TYPE I
One downside. It seems to cost around $75 now, probably £75 if you ordered through LAS.
I used it to seal all fuel system connections and it was particularly good on capacitive fuel sender gaskets and the fuel filler connections.
Regards
Gerry

Steve - on advice from Brian Fogg who found it was the final answer to the fuel smell from his level sender, I used Loctite 5922 to seal the flange of the factory fuel gauge sender to the tank . Brian got his from Halfords, but my local branch never had any on several tries, so I got mine from Grampian Fasteners.

Hope this helps.

Hi All,

What about the Gasket ?, I'm thinking of scrapping it and using one of those
sealants to bond the flange directly to the top of the fuel tank - did any of
you scrap the gaskets ?

I used just the gasket then one day when I filled the tank all the way up it leaked everywhere. I added pro seal on both sides of the gasket which was the messiest job ever and it has't leaked since.

Steve - why discard the gasket? I saw no reason to do so. It must provide a better seal to the slightly-flexible tank than the metal flange would by itself.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll keep the gasket then.

I've spoken to Light Aero , and they say that this is resistant to
Mogas http://www.lasaero.com/site/products/article?id=D02VK9NTH ,

I'll give it a try,
