I have an iPhone 4S that i use to shoot in cockpit video of some of my flights.
The existing microphone picks up all the noise in the cockpit and I usually
end up erasing the audio when editing. I was wondering has anyone setup
Some sort of external mic jack that I could use to patch into my headphones
To record atc chatter from my headphone?

Plug in a set of ear buds to your iPhone and put them in  your headphones.  Worked for me.

Tommy,
I am not familiar with iPhones, but have an idea. I used to shoot a lot of video in flight. I found that a lot of the audio that was the best for entertainment value was heard when the camera was off. I purchased an audio recorder and would record the audio for the entire flight. Then when editing the video, I would insert the audio where it fit best. Goofy comments from other pilots and ATC content was always available. You would need to be able to edit both audio and video to do this. The audio was recorded as suggested with a microphone in the headset.

What software are you using to edit your video and audio? I use the Apple
iMovie product but I am always looking for what's better

Michael,

I haven't done this with an iPhone but I did wire a portable, digital recorder into a headset audio jack using a cable and an adapter. It worked fine. It should work for your case although the jack on the iPhone is both in and out, but I think it figures out the right thing to do based on the app you're using.

I was using Final Cut Express on the Mac . I will also be looking as the new camera in the soon to be completed mount will be HD and my old software is not HD compatible. A quote from the random noise I recorded and used, "Did you see that rattlesnake". Yes they were flying that low.

[quote] HI Guys,

I saw not so long ago in a paper information on a aerodynamic "Dynamometer" with
a bar that had several holes, where a (two) plate(s) was bolted, and could be
bolted at different radius from the crankshaft, this is similar to the
Renard/Eiffel "Wood bar dyno" but adjustable. this to measure the engine power
without expensive dyno testing.

But now I cant find it, is here anyone that remember where I saw it?Smile
or seen it elsewhere??

Would like to find it again.
