...make that August 16, 17, & 18 !!...ok...so it's not quite a "drop of the hat" UK situation...but we all have much further to go...
Let's not let 2013 slip away w/o a US-Europa gathering...so here's an idea...who's up for it?
McMinnville, OR, 50 miles SW of Portland, features a world class aviation museum including Howard Hughes' Spruce Goose, an SR-71, B-17, and many more aircraft of significance.

Not widely publicized, McMinnville has a campground just off of the Alpha taxiway at the SW end of runway 22. You can park your airplane in the camp area. No "conveniences" except for running water. But you are within walking distance of the airport office that has restrooms and coffee. Of course, free shuttle service to the Evergreen Aviation Museum, home of the Spruce Goose. It's a very impressive museum. No camping fee. Very friendly and helpful folks at the airport office.

...also hotels / motels in the vicinity...we'll have a couple of cars to run shuttles to & from...
Local Europa builder, Greg Fuchs, sez the month of August is optimal flying season for Oregon.
As always, nothing ventured, nothing gained...spread the word to Europa owners who may not monitor europa-list,

Fred,

We'd love to but we are tied up that weekend.
We've been to the McMinnville area in the past, visited the Evergreen Museum, stayed at a wonderful B&B/Winery/Vinyard. Had a great time and would like to get back some day. But not this year:^(

It seems that we have more of an issue with the timing than the interest. I already have plans that I can't alter to be at McMinnville and environs between August 20 and 23, and I just saw Erich Trombley (914 mono) yesterday at Livermore on his way back to Las Vegas from McMinnville! With a bit longer notice, maybe we can attract a larger crowd.

Dave...could you extend to Aug 24th, (Saturday)?

Kevin...how about you?
Who else is game?
I'm ambivalent about the dates but would hesitate to suggest Labor Day Weekend (Aug 30 thru Sept 2).

Fred, Kevin, all others.I just returned from McMinnville, OR Had a great trip! I could have easily spent two days at the museum. I also spent a few days in Bend, OR and was granted a tour of the Lancair factory where they had both an Evolution and Legacyunder construction. I also toured an adjacent completion center (not affiliated with the company) with no less than three Evolutions at various stages of completion. While I would love to make a return visit to McMinnville the remainder of my August is booked. Erich TrombleyN28ET Classic Mono 914 Time: 09:41:36 PM PST US

Well, lets try for a future date and location. It would be great to get lots of Europa folks together again. There are some incredible places to fly out west. Bob Lindsay and I attended a Flight Design CT fly in a couple years ago. Based in Page Arizona, we flew to a different location daily for a meal. Monument Valley, Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, fantastic scenery.
It would be great to get the East coast folks out west.
But I still wanna go to McMinnville.

Now thats a place I always wanted to fly to and around. Some of the best flying weather in the country I hear. I still have my Europa up for sale but I'm flying it weekly and working on my one health issue. It's hard to part with a bird that fly's so nice quick & cheap!!This year would be out for me but if the south west could be a spot for next year and I'm able I would be all over that!! Flights to those destinations daily would be what I call a real flyin!!
Just my 2 cents worth.

Monument Valley, Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, fantastic scenery.
It would be great to get the East coast folks out west.
But I still wanna go to McMinnville.

Sorry, Kevin. I'm committed to flying up there later in the week with my son, who has only those dates off from work, and I really don't want to make two trips in one week. Maybe next time.

Well, if there is anyone left that had it in their mind to come out this direction, I'll join you at Evergreen, and/or come on by Sportsman airpark to check on my build. I don't have the luxury of having any Europa builders in the area, so I keep my refregerator stocked with some micro-brews just in case.. Greg.

I'd like to included myself & N120EJ, but the doctor's has grounded me for six to eight weeks and I still need to finish the 40 hour testing. Need thirteen more hours. I just might rent a plane to fly up there or get me hangar partner to fly his Europa up there.

I can drive up from Dixon, CA it's about nine hour on Interstate 5.
