My EAA chapter is building a Taylor Bird project. The design uses a Subaru engine as a pusher but with a redrive designed in the 70's that required numerous complex unavailable parts. I am looking for anyone with Stratus redrive parts available, we have two engines. I am also going to contact Status but first I trying to find parts for the project on the cheap. I am also looking for the part number of the crankshaft roller bearing and a source for the thermostat housing. Any help is appreciated.

Tim,
I have a very nice thermostat housing that I bought and installed on my Stratus engine. Can't remember the source, but I'll see if I can find it and will post it.. It's in one of the sites that supplies a bunch of stuff the Kitfox line.

Tim,
Here's the link to the thermostat housing I'm using. Excellent workmanship. www.highwingllc.com/thermostat.html Uses a standard, I believe, Ford style thermostat available at your local auto parts store..

Andy,
I like this thermostat housing. One question though. My Stratus provided has a bypass hose that goes back to the water pump. With the new hosing you are using, how did you deal with the bypass?

I plugged it. The thermostat has a bypass hole in the flange so that at least a small amount of water can continue to circulate eliminating any hot spots. Takes a little longer to warm up on the cooler days, but I can live with that. I also welded a boss on mine on the "hot" side for a temp sender so I can see actual water temp.
