It's been a while since we did mine.   If I remember right we silver soldered new cable to one end and then pulled the new cable through with the old.   We also found two "crss-crosses" in the trim cable that had to be corrected.   The problem with an even amount of cable criss-crosses is it's hard to tell because the control works normally (odd number of crosses makes control work opposite).



We also re-wound the drum in the tail.   It's similar to Piper trim drums.

Matt - this is helpful but I think there's a typo.  In the third section, second line, the fourth character in should read "cables" (plural) not "cable".

Dave, it's really a question of regional semantics. There are several dialects in China. The one prevalent in which Nanchang is located treats "cable" in the singular form for both the singular and plural like "deer" or "sheep" in English.

Throw in the aviation technical terminology to an already difficult dialect of Chinese does add it's challenges... While the write up may not be perfect, I did find the diagram to be much better than the ones in my Chinglish manuals, showing direction of travel and which side of the pulleys the cables ride. 

 

I believe where you're reading "cable" in the third section, second line is correct, as it refers to the positioning and soldering of the trim neutral ball on the cable.

 

Also, in section 2, where they say to tie rags around the drums after winding, I personally prefer a proper set of cable blocks, though tie straps do work,
