Hey guys,
Not sure how many of you are still around or subscribed to this forum but I'm still hanging on tight to my C90/4000x setup. For years now I've been satisfied with my Phatbox as a solution to carry my entire collection with me but navigation is slow and quality takes a hit even with lossless encoding.
With that said, I'm interested in finding a way to trick the 4000x into playing back an optical signal converted from my iPhone. My only ideas at this point would be to cycle between the optical input of my deck and the iPhone or to connect an optical changer and using an optical cable to my iPhone, however this would require that the changer or my head unit's CD player be on and playing needlessly.
Does anyone else know of a way to force the 4000x to accept and playback an optical signal without having to use some sort of dummy source that runs in the background? Its a spendy purchase to make this all work so I want to iron out all the details before I jump.. Thanks in advance.

Any luck getting this to work? I just bought a C90/4000X for home use to attach to toslink out from my computer and eager to try this.

Just as I'd mentioned, pop a CD in the C90 having it set to digital out and instead of using the optical in for the HU, use a secondary source. About the only solution I'd come across but worked fine for me.

Brand new owner here, hopefully I can help bring back activity...very big high end sound system being built and it will be controlled by the C90/XDP4000X after years of trying other solutions that were either inferior, cost prohibitive or not flexible enough. I will share my progress!

I am now feeding my XDP-4000X a 44.1khz/16bit toslink signal from my computer and controlling it via C90 while spoofed with a CD on continuous repeat in an 838ES changer. All powered by a Thermaltake 700W power supply and sending signal to a Clarion APA4300HX amp. Sounds incredible! Anyone else using their XDP in a home environment?
