I'm planning on changing my panel to get rid of the steam gauges and fit Dynon D180 and D10A units along with tidying up the layout to make it a little more logical. I have tried searching for a drawing of the sub panels but can not find one that has the dimensions. Does anyone have a usable drawing? I also tried the demo of xpanel but the Europa template seems to be way too big (or the instruments are too small) and wondered what software people have used to lay out the panel?

Thanks

Vince
Buy the aluminium panel blanks from Europa, then use the blanks to lay cardboard actual size mock ups on!

Vince - I laid out my panels using CADintosh. That only runs on Mac, but it can do DXF exports which should be readable by most other CAD applications. Let me know if you would like me to send you the DXF files for the main & radio panels.

Vince, You can always do it the pre CAD way - cut your existing panel out where you want the new removable section (with a thin saw), and use the cut out as yourpattern for the new panel. Make paper shapes of dimensions of instruments to go in and play around for best fit. It has worked well for me for three panel designs.

Hi Rowland,

The DXF files would be most welcome and also the CADintosh files as I do have a Mac I can use.

Thanks

Hi David,

I was hoping to design and make the removable sections before taking the panel back out of the aircraft for the rework. If I can printout the sub panels full size then I will try the lick and stick method as it can be a quicker method initially when playing about. Will keep you all update on the progress.

Thanks

Vince, I believe I got away without calling it a mod, just updating my list of flight instruments and saying no change in weight, but I would ask them or your inspector if in doubt. If you are introducing a removable subpanel for first time I guess they may call that a mod. Regards, David

There is a standard mod for replacing the main instrument panel with a removable.

I have tried searching for a drawing of the sub panels but can not find one that has the dimensions. Does anyone have a usable drawing? Vince - I laid out my panels using CADintosh. That only runs on Mac, but it can do DXF exports which should be readable by most other CAD applications. Let me know if you would like me to send you the DXF files for the main & radio panels. in friendship Rowland | Rowland Carson          ... that's Rowland with a 'w' ...

Thanks
