I wonder if the kind soul with the "amazing database with lots of details on the parts (including where they are referenced in each of the manuals)" would be prepared to share it with me?

I have a couple of items I can't trace despite a word search of the PDF manuals, this might help.

I will certainly do if the author of the original data approves it. I will ask him.

A word of warning. The data I was provided was in the form of a number of Excel spreadsheets that I imported into MS Access to create the required relationships. From there I can filter information to make the inventory process more manageable. But what that means is that knowledge of MS Access is required.
