Anyone have a picture of a canopy latch mod where they added to the push button to make opening the canopy from the outside.

Thanks.

Try this.
Drill and tap the center of the push button for a 10-32 thread. Using an AN3-10 bolt (or close to it), thread the bolt into the drilled and tapped 10-32 hole in the button. Next, cut off the head of the bolt and finish off the end of the bolt with a file. The length of bolt after it is cut of should be about 1/2" to 5/8". To open, simply push down on the end of the bolt rather than trying to push in on the button.
If you want long term security for the bolt, put a small amount of JB Weld epoxy on the bolt threads before you thread the bolt into the hole.

Thanks for the reply and it’s exactly how Doug Sapp explained someone had done it, so I appreciate you elaborating on the mod.
I’ll give it a try.

I'll get a picture to you when I get home next week. Basically I drilled a 3/16" hole, tapped it, found a stainless bolt with a round hex key round head, slid a plastic sleeve over the threads and that's it. Make sure you will into the push button in a location to get s good depth for the bolt to screw into.

I'm out if town but will try and get a picture when I return.

I did this, but instead of a bolt, used a "single-wing" bolt from ACE - can't find a pic at this time, but the bolt looked a bit like this, but without the hole... much easier to press on.

Only downside is that the steel seems a bit soft and it has "bent" just a little in use. With the tab, though, it is easy to take out and replace...

Thanks for the input and will look into it. I have a couple AN bolts coming tomorrow and will go from there.
