Just FYI, I have found that the Bendix/King KLX-135A is obsolete and no longer supported by Honeywell. A few years ago Honeywell forbid avionics shops from repairing their units and required everything to go back to the factory in Kansas. Now they don't want to deal with them at all.
Since there are many of these units in our RVs, it's going to be a major bitch when they all start going T/U at some point. The other similar units Garmin GNC-250XL and GNC-300XL are also obsolete. Some the KLX-135A's issues are it needs battery replacement every 5 years or so, LCD displays start to bleed out and power supply filter capacitors dry out. The first two issues can be dealt with, but Honeywell refuses to sell their LCD panel P/N 043-00083-0000 to anyone but their dealers. It interfaces to the Main Board using two elastomeric connector strips and looks easy enough to do.
Southeast Aerospace (SEA) is seemingly the only currently viable source for repair and fortunately Laurie is very helpful. Honeywell was distinctly unhelpful.
The internal battery is Tadiran TL-5135/P available from Digikey and the capacitors are commonly available items. The LCD display panel is the same one used in some other Bendix/King GPS units, so it should remain available for years to come at the current list price of $380 to SEA.
As previously mentioned, I have a bound hard copy of the Maintenance Manual should anyone ever need schematic or component info.
