Hello Fellow Kitfox Builders/Drivers:
It has been suggested by some that we get together at Acey Ducey some
evening during Airventure 2006. However nobody seems to know where
Acey-Ducey is located.
Oshkosh information has no idea. There is no telephone number listed for
them. I have used every search engine I could think of without success.
Today I called EAA and the lady in membership services said that Acey-Ducey
is located on Oregon Street and 14th Street.
Can anybody confirm that location? If not, may I suggest that we meet on
Tuesday 25 July at 19:30 local time at Kelly's. Kelly's is located at the
University at the corner of Wisconsin & High Street.

You have the spelling wrong.
It's the Acee-Deucee Lounge
1329 Oregon St.
920-235-6050
It is a cool place, and everyone that attends Oshkosh
should go there at least once.

That's wierd, Mapquest says it is at 667 W 8th Ave. I have tried the
telephone number, this same one is on the Mapquest listing, and the line is
always busy. I will try to find out for sure and let everyone know.

Thanks Ed.
OK folks. The link below is a map of where the Acee-Duecee is located. I'm
proposing we meet up on Wednesday evening about 6pm. I plan to go anyway
and hopefully some of you will be able show up so I can meet you great
people. It's an excellent place for dinner too.
For those who are on foot, I can load a few into my pickup. I can fit three
in the back seat and whatever I can get away with in the bed. Just a simple
matter of a reasonable and convenient meeting place for the pick-up.
Perhaps by the shuttle stop in the main parking area with a post-it note
saying KITFOX on your forehead? Anybody have a suggestion?
Print out the map on the link below.
If you want me to pick you up, my cell is 989 736 8264.
Hope to see you there!

Gentlemen,
The map is incorrect!!!! Proceed down 20th ave. as shown on the Google map. Turn LEFT on Oregon St., go 6 blocks and the bar is on the left. Trust me, I live here. If there is anything I can help anyone with before/during/after the show please feel free to contact me. I would also be able to transport anyone that needs a ride Wednesday evening.

I've been told of a camp closer to the flight line, so I'm gonna try
that one this year....if it doesn't work out, I'll go to Scholler. I'm
planning on starting out early Sunday morning, but as our friend Duane
might point out, that may turn into a late Saturday departure. (I
sometimes get too antsy waiting for the "green flag" and need to get
some distance between me and home.)

I wouldn't count on getting a decent spot at any of those flightline camps
at this late date Lynn. I've talked to people who get in "weeks" ahead of
time. Might get lucky though. If you take a bicycle, anyplace in camp
Scholler is close.

Right you are, Deke....yeah, almost forgot about the bike thing. In
fact the bike that I have was purchased right up there near OSH, while
Duane and I were out cruising around, charging up the MH
batteries....say, I'm thinking of taking the ferry across...any words
of wisdom? I took it from Wis. to MIch. back in about '87, so I'm
familiar with the drill, but that was with a car, not a small motorhome.

Can't help you on that one Lynn. I know some people take the ferry, but I
don't know from where or how much or where it goes. I would think when you
factor in the waiting time and cost of the ferry, you might be just as well
off to drive around the bottom of Lake Michigan and right on up to Oshkosh.
Just a thought.
I just Googled "Lake Michigan Ferry" and got a ton of hits. You should be
able to find out what you need there.

I just went to the S.S. Badger site (Ludington, MI to Manitowoc,
WI...four hours) and found out that it is a ~$280 round-trip for me and
my MH...not cheap, but factor in that "orange cone" drive through
Chicago, and it might be money well spent....am I getting old when I
start thinking about saving wear and tear on the old bod/brain by
spending money? Must be....gonna wait until I pick up the Trip-ticks at
AAA tomorrow, then flip a coin.

For a motorhome, it is $4.95/ft each way. For even my small Toyota 21
footer, this is ~$100 each way, plus a round-trip cost of $79 (senior
price), for me. How they charge extra for the driver of the rig is
beyond me, but they do.

Hey Lynn & Deke and other Michigan Kitfoxers headed for OSH.
Don't know about the new "rapid" car ferry from South Haven to Milwaukee, but I've taken the S.S. Badger from Ludington to Manitiwok several times. Deke, you're right that there probably isn't time saved from going through Chicago, at least not on the Badger. And it isn't cheap either. But who wants to drive thru Chicago? And there's more to life than hurry and money right?
If you've never ferried across, do it at least once. It's about a 2-3 hour cruise depending on the weather, which can get interesting. The Badger is an old coal-fired railroad ferry so it can easily take your motorhome. Lay out on the deck and enjoy the sun. Bring raingear and stay out on deck (practically alone!) during frequent Summer thunderstorms. Osh is about another hour from Manitiwok around the north shore of Lake Winnebago. There's a great maritime museam near the docks in Manitiwok, which showcases WWII "Gato Class" submarines, many of which were built there. Here's their website: www.ssbadger.com
Still trying to find a ride there and back early part of next week. Hopefully, I'll see you all at the big show.
