Paul,
No, not this specifically.
I had a wiper wear through and begin to hesitate. $500 and I was flying again.
Check ebay as there are usually a few on there. Typically about $150-$250 and good for parts or sometimes good for a replacement. But check the part number.
The Skido Rotax 914 marine engine used the same servo but you don't normally see these for sale.
Best Regards,
Bud Yerly

Has anyone else seen this? Can I buy a gear with the copper wipers, or maybe just the wipers themselves? This happened suddenly: 2 weekends ago everything was perfect, last weekend -- blinking light. This weekend -- disassemble until problem found. I can't imagine that I'm the only one with what amounts to a potentiometer with a bad wiper. This is certainly not a $500 failure (cost of new servo). Thanks.

N914TX,
Interesting damage indeed ! Thanks for sharing.
The good news is, the servo is a motorcycle unit which can be bought new or second-hand for just a few bucks.
We got the info from an autogyro forum expert and bought one just to have a look. We may still have it somewhere.
If you're interested I could research the exact brand and model of motor bike.
FWIW

Gilles,
I think everyone on this list would benefit from knowing about an equivalent motorcycle servo for a lot less cash! I looked myself for such a part... no joy!
More information... Ronnie at www.flysmla.com is checking his stock of used servos. Perhaps he can provide me with a serviceable part.
I also understand now that there is a '912 914 buy sell trade' group on Facebook. I have not confirmed this, yet FB may be another good source of used parts.
More details... when I wrote "copper" wipers in my original post, I should have written "copper-colored" wipers. The wiper is likely a copper alloy, maybe Cu-Be, maybe Cu-Ni, maybe Cu-Ni-Sn, or maybe a thousand other possibilities. Therefore I am shying away from repair of the metal wiper itself.
Thanks!
Paul
