I am still looking blades for my 375 hp Huosai engine and I did not find an answer about an hybrid Huosai /Nanchang hub with yak 52 blades.
I know that for testing, aerometal / Richard Goode use a PZL wilga hub with std wooden blades (Aerometal told me that this combo can handle a lot of power) so my idea is to keep my hub but with yak 52 blades (oem, whirlwind, or any other).
Do you know if the Yak 52 blades nut can be used in the Nanchang hub?

I will check with Aerometal about the propeller that is used in the dynamometer, which can test over 500 hp. As Jacques says, it is a Wilga hub and then Russian V-530 blades. But of course a rather special hub because it incorporates the strain gauge to send its "deformation" by Bluetooth in order to calculate horsepower. But if there is a way of fitting the V-530 blades to a Huosai Hub, that might be a solution. Certain we do have quite a lot of V-530 blades in stock.

To clarify the position with the propeller on the Aerometal dynamometer on which every engine we produce is tested. The propeller itself is a Wilga propeller slightly shortened for ground clearance. Attached to the hub is a sophisticated strain gauge which distorts through the power being transmitted to it; it then sends the message via Bluetooth to a laptop which is calibrated then to read out in horsepower. Then the strain gauge has a fitting to accept a propeller shaft from AI 14 or HS-6 which are of course the same. However when we are testing an M 14, we have an adapter that fits onto the "flat plate" propeller shaft of the M 14 and has a splined shaft as in AI 14/HS-6.
So the bottom line is that I suppose the Wilga propeller will fit straight onto a Nanchang propeller shaft, and it is certainly a significantly bigger propeller so could be more effective. But of course it is, like the Chinese propeller an old design.

Sorry Richard, my message was not to talk about the hub you are using but to know if the blades of a Yak 52 hub or any other M14 hub could be adapted on a Nanchang hub.
As Marcell from Aerometal had told me that he used a hub from a PZL Wilga, I wondered if we could mount the bolt / bearing from a hub of Yak 52 on the hub of Nanchang and therefore use blades from Yak 52 or others like Whirlwind.

Yes, that is exactly what I understood, and I'm as keen as you are to have a more effective propeller to use with our up rated Huosai engines. The practicality is that the Wilga propeller will fit straight onto the HS-6 propeller shaft, since the AI 14 engine has the same shaft as the HS-6, together with, I suspect more effective blades than the original Chinese ones. Also I believe that the aerofoil section of the Wilga propeller is almost identical to that of the V-530 propeller as used on the different Yaks, since they were designed at very much the same time. Richard.

And for you, with your 375hp engine I am using, Yak 52 or Wilga blades are better for general performances than OEM Nanchang blades?

Hello Jacques – I wish I could be sure, but I've never been involved in any kind of back-to-back test. But simply looking at the blades, the Wilga prop does seem to be almost identical to the Yak V-530, and that prop is fine to transmit to around 380 hp. Richard.

Another very cost effective solution would be to discuss the possibility of making the Whirlwind W530 carbon fiber scimitar blades with the more coarse threaded Nanchang/Housai blade threads. Plus there is such a huge market all over the world for replacement blades even for the stock 285 HP Housai.
And now with much higher horsepower Housai engines Richard/Aerometal is producing, what a benefit this would be to the entire global CJ6/Housai market.
