New to this list and have a question, I am needing to install a remote oil sump on my 0200 Continental, My question is,   

I need to make a flat plate to bolt on where the old sump bolted, Don’t see a problem with  installing two elbows for the return to the remote tank but need some answers as how to attach the supply line, I have some idea’s but would like to know how others have done it. Want to use a AN-8 fitting for it. I see the 5/8” threads for it are about 1 washer thickness above the flange on the engine.

Hi Ron,



If the bolt pattern for the 0200 is the same as the A65, (4 & 3/8 in. bolt 

circle - 6 bolts), I may have what you need. It's off of an old A65  ground 

power unit which I converted back to aircraft configuration.  I'd take $100 

plus $20 shipping and handling for the plate, the external tank, and the 

hoses. The hoses will need to be replaced but you may be able to reuse some 

of the fittings.



If you'd like to make your own setup, the plate is just a flat plate with a 

one inch pipe coupler welded to it for the return line and an additional 

hole for the hose fitting which replaces your old suction pipe.  The gasket 

for the plate seals the engine side of this suction hole and the hose side 

is sealed by a copper washer just like your old suction pipe.

Dave, Thankyou very much for the reply, I have already made the plate and

over the weekend made one from plexiglass, put a bolt with the same thread

into the supply that was the same depth as the sides of the 6 bolt flange.

Was able to get the location for the supply on the new flange. I have a very

tight area and have to make a special shaped tank on the Q200, The reason I

am doing this is I want to install the center 4 into 1 exhaust to help pull

out the cooling air for the engine.
