|
|
Starting on page 111 of the latest Aircraft Spruce catalog, there are
pictures and charts of AN fittings. Or you can go to http://
www.aircraftspruce.com/ and click on the "hardware" link and then the
"AN fittings" link to get to the same information online. I would
highly recommend ordering one of their catalogs, they're free and
contain lots of good information.
NPT fittings are specified by the nominal inside diameter of the pipe
and hose fittings are specified by the inside diameter of the hose.
AN fittings are specified by an "AN" number (AN followed by 3 digits)
to specify the type of fitting, followed by a dash and a number that
specifies the outside diameter of the tube in sixteenths of an inch.
for instance, to go from the 1/4" female NPT on your finger screen to
3/8" OD tubing you would use an AN816-6 fitting. If you were using
flared tubing with that you would use an AN818-6 coupling nut with an
AN819-6 sleeve.

I'd like to go with all AN fittings and braided stainless steel
fuel lines, instead of the supplied barbs, hose clamps, and rubber
lines.
Question: what AN sizes match what NPT sizes...?
For example, starting at the 601XL wing tank, there is a "finger
screen" (part number DX2021) that is female threaded, into which a
"1/4 NPT nipple coupler" (part number F-125-4B) is threaded. Which
AN fitting would replace the "1/4 NPT nipple coupler".
I bet somebody on this list has already done this. Does anyone
have a parts list so all of this can be ordered at once?
Thanks,
