'Evening, all
After almost a month working 12-16 h day ( and weekends ), I am starting to have a bit of down time.
Yesterday I bent the 4 extrusion 6V11-5. It took quite a bit of muscle and patience (both in short supply), but they came out quite nice.
(6V11-5 can be seen here, very bottom, left:
http://www.zenithair.com/zodiac/data/6-v-0.pdf )
I also made the holes for the gear slides on the bottom skin - pretty unnerving, given the gazillion hours it took me to polish it (hey, gazillion made it to the dictionary !).
And this evening I placed the skin on top of the (upside down) skeleton, and everything fits beautifully!
It's gratifying, after spending so many hours on it...
Tomorrow, if I muster enough courage, there will be some drilling going on!
Slowly but surely (emphasis on "slowly", working on the "surely").

Larry-
Did you have it boiled out at a radiator shop or is it new? It's amazing the crud that came out of my folded fin even though it was pristine on the outside. Remember, the oil cooler is post oil filter in the loop and anything that gets dislodged goes straight to the bearings, etc. Considering how small a cooler is, the cost should me minimal. In my case, the guy at the radiator shop didn't even charge me. REALLY cheap peace of mind.

Got the seat cushions layers glued together. Actually I started this Monday and ran out of glue. Had to head back to Home Depot's aviation department for more glue and finished with a quick trip to the airport yesterday. I'm going to let them sit so the bend in the cardboard backing takes a little better then off they go to the upholstery shop for covering.
They are quite comfy.
This photo is pre glueing and trimming.

Bill being as frugal as i am i used a boat bilge pump set in a solution of ATF
and acetone ran tubing in one side and out to return to solution. pump was operated by a 12 volt car battery C let run about an hour then ran a clean solution until i was
satisfied cooked in oven (my own not my wifes kitchen oven) and ran once again
I showed mark from Clarks Corvair at CC#14 and he was impressed even the outside looked new

Texas is a big place. What part of Texas are you moving to, if one may ask?
I'm in far west Texas, about 100 miles north of the Big Bend.

Ron:
That truck has 99% of the wing parts for a scratch-built Bearhawk riding below in those side bins between the axles. I wrapped everything up in this blue foam sheet stuff my pool installer was supposed to put between the liner and the pool walls but didn't. I saved it in the attic for four years and it came in real handy to wrap the spars and ribs. It also has my TIG welder that will be hooked up soon so I can continue welding on the steel parts to finish the wings.
Thanks for noticing!

On Monday (Labor Day), my grandson and I drove to Palm Springs CA to attend the Memorial Day Ceremony at the Palm Springs Air Museum. After the ceremony, we drove to Chino CA and spent the night.
On Tuesday we visited both the Yanks Museum and Planes of Fame Museum eating at Flo's Cafe on the airport. Can't believe all of the Warbirds on one airport. Also got a tour of the all the restoration projects in the shop by one of the volunteers at Yanks. Too many airplanes too little time. After the museums closed we drove to San Diego.
Wednesday morning we toured the USS Midway in San Diego Harbor and then onto the San Diego Air Museum in Balboa Park. We took a side trip to the Museum of Natural History. Grandson took over 400 photos and hopefully we made some memories together.
Really didn't accomplish much on project. Oh well.

Sounds like you did good. My main point was, don't be fooled by what the outside looks like. Did you have a batch of crud come out?

Guess it should be what did I do this week?
I just got back from enjoying a few days in the TN mountains exercising a
gift given to my by my angel of a wife! I took a full basic aerobatics
course at http://www.aceaerobaticschool.com/. 6 hours of flight time and an
equal amount of ground school over two days, one-on-one with the instructor,
Catherine Cavagnaro. Catherine was trained by, and was partners with, the
late Bill Kershner who wrote the book (literally) on aerobatic flight.
Bill's C152 Aerobat "Orville" is on display in the Smithsonian Udvar-Hazy
Center right under the wing of the Concorde. We flew its twin "Wilbur".
What a fantastic experience and I know I'll be a better pilot for it.
Catherine is a real pro, and patient, even with a ham-fisted, straight and
level guy like me. Definitely got me back in the building mode!

Took apart a $15 dwyer gauge, printed a new instrument face for it with my inkjet printer, put it back together, and now it's a $400 "Lift Reserve Indicator".

I pulled off the spinner and replaced the J-nuts I had on the front prop bulkhead with nut plates. MUCH better.
I also started the wiring process between the Dynon, the trim servos and the buttons on the stick.
Which other than some clean up and quick ties is the last of the wiring until the wings go on.
