Http://motostarna.com scroll down to M14p service information. There is an article there that addresses timing the air start distributor.

Doc,
I think your link had a typo. I came up with http://motorstarna.com/
and it linked to M-14P info.

See page 51 of Maintenance and Service Instructions for Aero Engine HUOSAI-6A manual for full description for the adjustment procedure for the compressed air dist in the HS6A engine.  I am sure it will be the same procedure as used for the M14 series engines.

Best,

Correct. Look at the left side of the page for the M14P info. This is George Coy's site.

As a concerned fellow aircraft owner, and knowing it is none of my business, I would of course offer the procedure and then politely ask if the owner was sure it was necessary to mess with this thing to begin with.

The reason for that comment is that although I have had a number of folks tell me that they did this alignment with ease and perfect results on the first try, I will admit that I consider those people to be amazingly gifted.

My experience with aligning the air-distributor was that it is an extremely delicate and frustrating device and very hard to get right. This may be due to the size of my fingers and hands, which are rather huge. Or maybe other worse things. Bottom line, don't do it unless you are DARN SURE it is necessary.

Just sayin.

Mark

I share the experience below.  I just had to replace a distributor on my M14 powered Wilga...  It's a pain in the ass getting those air lines on and off, and depending on how much space you have, to get the third nut (you know which one I'm talking about!) off and back on.

On my first attempt, I got a reverse spin - doh!   Second attempt and a few choice words, perfect!

See page 51 of Maintenance and Service Instructions for Aero Engine HUOSAI-6A manual for full description for the adjustment procedure for the compressed air dist in the HS6A engine. I am sure it will be the same procedure as used for the M14 series engines.
