definitely sets the tone for negotiation:  "only desperate sellers please" is how I read it.    Pity......  Good thing I have no plans to sell my parts....

Just to clarify matter to those who replied but have nothing to offer, I am looking for a good well constructed aircraft for sale at the proper price. I don't want a cheap poorly built/ maintained aircraft that has been languishing outside or neglected for years at the back of a hangar.
I hope that clears up matters!!!!

I am very disappointed to read the negative comments directed at a potential Europa buyer who thought that he was joining a 'friendly group of like-minded flyers'. At no point did he express the desire for a cheap aircraft, rather the contrary, he wanted a well-built, well maintained plane. I am not able officially to write on the forum, although I own half a Europa and, indeed fly the whole plane, but ,I feel very strongly that we should all be more welcoming to flyers expressing interest in joining our community. I have to send this under my husband's name, but he is in agreement with my comments.

The the downfall of tweet-size internet postings (of any type) is the
complete loss of any conversational/tonal context. So interpretation is
very difficult. "silly prices" does carry an inferred tone. Not sure the
European market situation, but here in N.A. the Europa existing plane
prices (both kits and flying) have been devalued to *incredibly*
undervalued prices sadly. Silly prices indeed. Supply and demand in action

To all Europa brothers & Sisters!!Everyone has a different way of expressing themselves in word choices. We all must remember emails do not transmit voice intonations. Therefore one must give way to an honest none insulting intent. I sometimes marvel at how much this list is used to argue over who is right and wrong and make sure our point of view is heard as being gospel. This list is to give help to builders and to buy and sell our delightful aircraft not to feed anyones intelligence ego. If your post is anything else other than help to those that need it then perhaps it's best to hold the thought.

I too will second that statement Sue, well said ..... I can write on the forum and always intend to help prospective buyers in preparation of their expectancies for what they get and also what they can expect having bought it even when it is well maintained they need to be very much aware of it’s limitations.

I am sorry that my advert has caused a few folk to reply in a hostile manner.Far be it my intention to cause dissension in the group.
There was a Europa XS for sale on AFORS where the asking price was ÂŁ32500 and I expect it might have been sold for ÂŁ30.000 the registration was I think
G.BWJH. Although I missed this sale and therefor never saw or inspected the aircraft, this is the price I am looking at. So please do not take offence.

Bill - welcome to the Europa community! I’m astonished by the comments that your posting has occasioned, but I alway try to understand that people have different world views, and I usually excuse our friends from other countries whose native language is not British English and thus may have misunderstood your phrase “silly prices”. I thought it was a perfectly reasonable qualifier - I wouldn’t want to waste time looking at a Europa offered at (say) Ł50k either!

I hope you find a machine to suit you and that you discover the friendly core of the Europa community, even if the exterior seems a bit abrasive to start with!

Those are very kind comments Rowland.....thank you.
Many have phoned/emailed me off forum expressing similar views and I thank them also.
I have been put in touch with a couple of vendors and expect to start my search in earnest this weekend. You probably gather that I am not new to light aircraft having flown in the R.A.F. and more recently in a private capacity.
Best regards
Bill

There’s an old quote about the US & the UK being “two nations divided by a common language”…and as the person who started this unfortunate thread, let me say that I truly regret having expressed “astonishment” at the use of the term, “silly prices” with respect to the Europa which struck me as simply odd and perhaps disrespectful to those who may claim value for their high levels of craftsmanship and attention to detail. For this erroneous speculation, I wish to express my profound apologies.
I too…from afar...welcome you, Bill Dewey, to the Europa community…sorry to hear of the loss of your Alpi Pioneer 300…I trust you will find a Europa which will match your needs and expectations.
Best,
Fred

Roland,

You do realise what it costs to build a Europa from scratch, eg ÂŁ70-80K at todays prices!  You can't expect people to give them away.

Thanks Fred Klein and others who have clarified their position. I do not hold any hard feelings over these comments, but as one national to another I adopt in matters like this an old English saying

Otherwise as can be seen things can get out of hand.
Apologies from me to those who have been offended.

Don't know if you get the UKGA email, but the latest one has this ad:

Europa Tri Gear G-DEBR For Sale
